Charles River Center, Needham
Anne-Marie Bajwa, President and Chief Executive Officer at the Charles River Center, has announced that Pranita Amarasinghe has been selected as the organization’s Chief Operating Officer. Amarasinghe assumed her new role on September 5th, 2017.
Prior to joining the Charles River Center, Amarasinghe worked in senior positions at a number of nonprofit organizations including Central Boston Elder Services (CBES), Cambridge Housing Authority (CHA), New England Organ Bank and the Mentor Network. Her major accomplishments in those positions included the development of Dudley Square Housing at CBES and the creation of new programs to move tenants out of public housing at CHA. Amarasinghe was a key financial adviser to the Board of Directors, senior management and the divisional managers. She helped the organizations achieve sustainable growth levels, strategically diversify to new service areas, and was a key player during the budgeting, forecasting and planning processes.
In the 1990s Amarasinghe helped to bring the Internet to Sri Lanka and connect the island to the rest of the world by helping to launch the first Internet Service Provider on the island.
“Growing up in the island nation of Sri Lanka, I saw how people struggle for survival. My family always helped people in whatever way they could. To this day, those values are instilled in me and will be the hallmark for my work at the Charles River Center. Each day, I like to see the staff and clients of the Charles River Center as my own family, and I look forward to making a difference in the lives of the clients," said Amarasinghe.
Amarasinghe earned both a BS in Business Administration and an MBA from Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, California. She is a Certified Public Accountant, licensed in California and member of the Massachusetts Society of CPAs.
